Welcome to New Monasticisms Ireland!

New Monasticisms Ireland is a spirituality training provider. It is inspired by the reflection of the mystic Thomas Merton, “What can we gain by sailing to the moon if we are not able to cross the abyss that separates us from ourselves?” The Wisdom of the Desert
Sayings from the Desert Fathers of the Fourth Century

This movement has its tentative roots in traditional Monasticism. It also has connections with a global expression that embraces many denominations. It could be said that it captures the ‘zeitgeist’ of this Age where much is in flux and a search for the authentic is paramount.

If you scroll  through the titles and drop down menus you will get a sense of New Monasticisms Ireland – we also have a facebook page where present activity takes place.

The Day at Milltown Park Saturday 15th October proved to be highly stimulating, challenging and very relevant to our contemporary questions. Our thanks go to Fr Stephen Cummins OP who presented the life of Charles De Foucauld to us. Examining his attitude and way of being as he lived his life with the Tuareg in North Africa. Blessed Charles De Foucauld’s legacy spoke of tolerance, acceptance and understanding.

Shaykh Dr. Umar Al-Qadri spoke in the afternoon and enlightened us about the many elements of Islam. He outlined the dangers of interpreting texts too literally and condemned radicalism on ignorance of the truth. Great discussion took place in the afternoon with many audience members joining the conversation and connecting with that which unites us.
